For those of you in the Atlanta area be sure to stop by this years Collard Green Festival which will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2014, from 10 am to 7 pm at Lithonia City Park, 2501 Park Dr. Lithonia, GA. This is the 5th year the festival has been held here in Atlanta. It was at last years festival that I recorded my Are There Black Vegetarian and Vegans? video.
The festival was created by Nobantu Ankoanda in East Palo Alto California. They held the 15th annual festival in July. Luckily, Nobantu brought it here to Atlanta when she moved here. The mission of the festival as stated on the website is:
“To celebrate the traditions, culture and historical contributions of African Americans while promoting family unity and the importance of healthy eating and living for the wellbeing of future generations.”
