The #1 Tool For Successfully Changing Your Diet

Maintaining your vegetarian or vegan lifestyle can challenging. Some folks start and stop many times. Others stay vegetarian for a good length of time and then fall off. Some may worry they aren’t eating the right things or attribute symptoms they are having to giving up animal products.

Does this sound familiar to you?

There are many forces out there that are trying to undermine your progress and confuse you. Advertisers and the food industry want to keep you addicted to their unhealthy food. Your meat-eating friends and family and social gatherings put pressure and temptation on you to return to your old ways of eating. Conflicting or confusing information about nutrition can cause you to worry that you aren’t getting the nutrients you need.

The #1 thing that will help you succeed no matter what is learning to understand yourself, how and why you make the choices you make and listening to what your body is telling you. This is the key to making a lasting change. With this knowledge you’ll be able to figure out what works best for you and your life. One-size-fits all solutions don’t have what it takes to be effective in creating a healthy lifestyle that you can stick to.

So how do you gain that understanding? By keeping a journal. It’s the #1 tool for successfully making the transition to and maintaining a vegan or vegetarian lifestyle. It’s the first thing we have our patients, students, and clients to. In this video I’ll share just how to do it and how it can help.

As you can see keeping your own journal will give you the ability to get clarity on your struggles and identify ways of addressing them. This is the foundation of Pillar #1, Deep Self Understating of creating a sustainable diet and lifestyle. I go in-depth on how to use the insights you learn to create your own personalized success plan with my coaching clients. We also focus on the other 3 Pillars of Success, Common Sense Nutrition Understanding, Kitchen Confidence, and Real World Navigation Skills. When you are strong in each pillar you become unshakably vegan! Here’s the instructions for How To Do A Food Journal

Check out this post to find out how I use a bullet journal approach to my journal. It’s made the journaling experience much more accessible and powerful for me. I created a bullet journal food/health/lifestyle journal template that I share with my coaching clients to help them get the most out of their journals too. In this post I share how to use the template for super charging your journaling process and help you reach your goals.

  2. Amazing! I’ve been (consistently) keeping a food journal for four days now and the journey has been magical. Thank you; it feels good to be in a healthy choices community

    1. Makeba, I am so happy to hear that. Nana Kwaku always says that “You have everything you need to be healthy in you right now.” Listening within is such an important part. Glad you are a part of the community!

  3. It’s easy for me to be Vegan or Raw in the Spring and Summer but when Fall and Winter is where I kind of Backslide, I’m on information overload and your video came right on time because I am trying to get back on track. The video was helpful.

    1. I am glad it helped. Many people have a harder time with raw in colder months. Time for more warming spices. I find a cup of tea can satisfy the desire for warm food too.

  4. Blessed love Sister Opare. My names is Peace Warden, I am interested in creating Medicinal Cannabis edibiles, from a raw or vegan prospective. any suggestions or ideas. I am going to be opening a place of healing and restoration in Jamaica next year.

    1. peace warden, creating these types of products is a bit out of my expertise. But, I wish you well. Keep us posted on the healing center.
