It is the last day of VeganMoFo 2013, the vegan month of food where vegan bloggers around the world committed to posting every day (or at least every business day) for the month of September. I am happy to say that I made it every single day. I enjoyed the process and I learned a lot about posting more regularly. I don’t promise to continue to post EVERY day but I do plan to post as often as possible.
On this final VeganMoFo post I share a video I made at the 2013 Atlanta Collard Green and Cultural Festival. People often think that there aren’t many Black/Afrikan vegetarians or vegans. There is the presumption that it is a white thing. This just isn’t so.
That is why I created this site. To help connect us together, Black/Afrikan vegetarians, vegans, and those who want to learn more. To give us a place to talk to each other and support and learn from each other. We don’t have to feel alone or isolated.
I am committed to building a nation of Black/Afrikan vegetarians who are saying NO to big business that is knowingly leading us down the path to the destruction of our communities, to disease, to disability, to obesity, to oppression, to deception and to early death.
I invite all people of Afrikan descent to join the food revolution.
Do you know of other Black/Afrikans you’d like to invite to join the Food Revolution? Share this post and help spread the word.

I am a Black vegetarian. I’ve struggled with the lifestyle on and off for years but about 4 months ago I recognized my need to always return to plant based eating as a sign and I decided to make it permanent. I still struggle from time to time but I can honestly say I don’t struggle with my food demons like I used to. I’m weaning myself off sea food too and dairy is almost non-existent in my life. While I may not be wholly vegetarian at the moment in my heart it is my ultimate goal, and with consistency and mindfulness, I will get there.
sweet301 I commend you for your continuing to return to your goals and for listening to your body or your inner voice. Stick with it! It gets easier over time!
