Taking Time For Self Care

How are you? I pray you are well. I’m “Flowing!” as a good friend of mine likes to say 😃.

I’ve spent the past month or so tapping into spirit and inspiration and focusing on what Food For The Soul is really all about. On what my vision and mission is becoming now. On the impact I want to make for Abibifahodie (Afrikan Liberation). I have always seen my mission as giving power back to our people. We have to be HEALTHY to be powerful!

So, after all my reflection and soul searching I’ve come to the conclusion that the core mission of FFTS remains the same. Giving you the power to be strong and healthy and THRIVE so you can bring your best game to the world. We need each and everyone of us to be standing in our power!

I look at FOOD from a broader perspective. In my coaching, teaching, and writing I focus on three types of food, Spirit Food, Mind Food, and Power Food.

SPIRIT FOOD aligns you with your true desires and true self and connects you to your inner power and purpose.

MIND FOOD gives you information and skills to cut through all the confusion and misinformation, and create new practices and a new way of life.

POWER FOOD empowers you to stay true to your convictions and make the right decisions even when you’re surrounded by all the wrong choices.

That’s what Food For The Soul and Black Vegan Academy is all about.

Now for some truth telling! It’s time to get off the Struggle Bus!

If you’re anything like me, I’m willing to bet that you often feel overwhelmed and exhausted just trying to keep up with everything on your plate. Am I right?!

Where’s the power in that?!

There’s no judgement here. All too often I struggle with the too full plate syndrome too. It’s a global epidemic that impacts Black Women especially.

We put everyone else’s needs before our own. We feel it’s our duty to rescue and save our loved ones, our co-workers, the world! Even when we ourselves are drowning in exhaustion. This is not healthy or sustainable.

It’s what most of my coaching clients struggle with. They often know what to do to create a healthy lifestyle but they’re so busy taking care of everyone and everything else, they struggle to take care of themselves.

We have big hearts. We care deeply. It’s a beautiful and powerful thing!

BUT!!!!

When we fill our plates with so much to do, so much caring for others, we fail to give ourselves the same love and caring. Love and caring that we need and deserve.

We don’t have time to exercise, so our bodies get weak and flabby.
We are too tired to make a healthy meal, so we just grab fast food.
We can’t focus at work, so we end up spending twice as long on projects.
We end up feeling irritable, powerless and resentful, and our relationships suffer.

Does any of that sound familiar?

How is your physical, mental and spiritual self suffering because you don’t have time for Self Care? What dreams and goals are you not fulfilling because you just don’t have the time or energy to do it?

Are you READY to get off the struggle bus? I am! No more of that ish for me!!

That struggle inspired me to create something to help put an end to the overwhelm and exhaustion. Taking Time For Self Care is a brand new course inside Black Vegan Academy that will guide you towards a life of balance, wholeness and health. It comes straight from my heart to yours! The inspiration came to me as I was on the coast filming the video for my last post on The Importance of Taking Time To Rest. I knew I had to do something to help others get off the struggle bus too.

Each lesson in the Taking Time For Self Care course is very short (cuz, uh,.. you’re busy!) and gives you a helping of:

Spirit Food – (Ditch the mindset that makes you put yourself last and replace it with one that recognizes that you deserve more.) Like how to heal your inner emotional wounds that make you feel guilty and selfish.

Mind Food – (Find effective strategies to clear space on your plate at work and home to make time for YOU.) Like how to stop doing everything for everyone and find support from others.

Power Food – (Protect your ME time and keep your Self Care time sacred.) Like how to create boundaries and handle people who don’t respect your need for ME time.

By the end of the course you will have established your own Self Care practices and started to feel more energized, aligned and powerful!

It’s NOT selfish to take time to take care of yourself!

If you’ve found yourself in a place where you’re so busy taking care of everything and everyone else while your own needs are being neglected, this course is for you.

And, if you join the Taking Time For Self Care course by Friday, November 5, 2021 at 11:59 pm EST, you’re invited to join me for a bonus group coaching session to get you started on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 11 am EST.
