What A Difference A Year Makes

One year ago this month Food For The Soul was born. I launched the site on April 15 2013. So what’s happened during the last year here on the online home for black vegetarians? It’s been a lot of hard work but I have enjoyed it, learned a lot, and loved interacting with all of you.

In the last 12 months there have been 67 blog posts focusing on eating a healthy vegan or raw food diet, living a healthy lifestyle, and the specific needs of Black or Afrikan people.

There have been 84 recipe posts 46 of which are raw food recipes. Fifteen of the recipes have been submitted by readers.

We have more than 500 members although activity on the forums is not very active yet. Some of you have introduced yourself in the forums and I thank you. Please go and read these introductions and interact with each other. If you haven’t introduce YOURself, please take a moment to do that.

onlinelearningWe launched two online trainings Healthy Eating Success and Juice Fasting For Health Wellness And Weight Loss. We also published the Juice Fasting For Weight Loss Health and Longevity e-book. These trainings bring the educational programs we use with our patients to the web and make them available to all of you.

printbookWe launched two versions of my recipe book Food For The Soul From Ama’s Kitchen. It is available in both an interactive e-book format and a print book. They include 46 easy vegan and raw vegan recipes with full color photos of each recipe.

Vegan MoFo 2013I participated in Vegan Mofo, the Vegan Month of Food in September where, along with hundreds of other bloggers around the world, I posted a blog post or a recipe every day for the month of September. It was challenging but helped to get me on a regular posting schedule.

I interviewed eight Black Vegans who told us about their journey to veganism and gave us tips and suggestions. You can read their stories over in the Black Vegan section.

50 Shades Of Vegan Kale Challenge

There’s the 50 Shades Of Vegan Kale Challenge where we are gathering 50 VEGAN kale recipes in response to the book 50 Shades Of Kale. We have 23 recipes now so we are almost half-way there! Be sure to submit your kale recipe.

We’ve seen a steady growth in traffic over the months with many people coming to us from links seen on Facebook from Internet searches for Black Vegetarians and from just people spreading the word. We have had visitors from all over the world from the US, from Africa, from Europe, from South America, from the Middle East, from Asia, everywhere around the globe.

So now what what’s next?

First off will be taking a couple of weeks off from posting while we do some research and some reconfiguring. We will be back in action the first week in May.

On May 15 we will re-launch the revamped and reorganized Healthy Eating Success: Step-By-Step Guide To Becoming Vegan. This expanded program will have more videos. It will come with 30 days of email messages to help you on your way. You can still get in now at the lower price of $97. That way you’ll be all set once the program is complete and you will have access to all the new material at the low price. After May 15 the price will be going up to $197

This year we will increase our focus on community involvement and I hope that I’ll see more of you over in the forum section. Be sure to post question, share stories, post before and after photos etc over there.

There is a feature available here for posting businesses listings that I haven’t really focused on. We will get that going and offer you an opportunity to post restaurants, health food stores, and other business that support your healthy lifestyle.

Will be expanding our look at vegan vegetarianism to other places around the world. Will continue to bring you recipes and blog posts to provide information you can use to help assist your healthy vegan lifestyle

Thank you for being a part of Food For The Soul The Online Home For Black Vegetarians. You are who we are doing this for. We’re building a food revolution and a world-wide nation of HEALTHY Black Vegetarians.

What would you like to see this year here on the site? How can we better serve you?

  1. CONGRATULATIONS! What a blessing you have been for creating this valuable resource! Right now, I’m reading and enjoying the articles. I haven’t taken the step to be fully vegan, or vegetarian, or raw, but I am incorporating more whole foods into my eating everyday. I love reading this newsletter and the recipes. You live your passion! Thanks!

  2. Congrats on your one year anniversary. I hope you will have many more. Your website has helped me by providing recipes that I use to help me eat a vegetarian diet. Thank you very much for this. Health is our greatest form of wealth because if you don’t have your health, you can’t do much of anything else. I have found vegetarianism to be central to good health and finding this out is my greatest source of my new found wealth.
