Getting Back To Eating (and loving) Real Food

I think for many people the thought of eating healthy or worse plant-based/vegan/raw for the rest of their life means a life of deprivation and boring food. Not true!

Contrary to popular belief healthy food tastes great! That is, as long as you know how to make it that way. In fact your non-vegan family and friends will be happy to eat your plant-based/vegan/raw food as long as it satisfies their taste buds. (And you aren’t a vegangelist) They’ll be asking for more. And asking for the recipe.

How did this “healthy food tastes like cardboard” myth get started? I think it’s a product of the processed and fast food era of today. An era where fat, salt and sugar are loaded into what we eat to mask the fact that there isn’t really any “there” there. No real food. No flavorful ingredients. No love. No fresh, ripe and deliciousness that comes from mother nature. Just wheat, corn and soy that has been stripped of much of its goodness. Then loaded up with that fat, salt and sugar configured just right to hit our bliss point and topped off with a chem lab full of artificial flavors and preservatives. A veritable chemical soup!

It’s time to get back to SLOW food. To home-made. To REAL food. When you take the time to use fresh flavorful ingredients prepared with love and expertly seasoned you are bound to have a success! You will have food that really feeds you and your family. It’s time to get back to making food the way your mother/father or grandmother/grandfather made food. Maybe not the same ingredients but the same careful attention to what went into the dish. The same intention of love and caring for those who are eating it.

Fortunately SLOW food doesn’t have to take a lot of time. It doesn’t have to be expensive. It may mean, though, that you have to rethink your meal prep ideas. I mean really, what more important thing is there in this world than making sure you are feeding yourself and/or your family the healthiest and most nutritious food possible? It has to be more important than being able to buy the latest gadget or drive a flashy car. And what a gift to give your family! The gift of valuing a healthy meal. The gift of knowing how to make a healthy meal. And the gift of YOU feeling strong and healthy for many years to come.

Ok, so here are some things to help get you or keep you on the SLOW/REAL food track.
